Every year, the construction industry contributes billions of dollars to the WA economy, which helps to fund our hospitals, our schools and our roads. Currently, our members are working on critical projects like the new ECU campus, the Homefire Film Studios and the $6 billion Perdaman Urea Plant.
Good for
safety
Through our efforts, deadly asbestos, lead, engineered stone and formaldehyde in MDF have been banned in building materials, so more workers make it home safely to their families. Plus, we fought and secured industrial Manslaughter laws to hold negligent employers accountable, because safety is our priority every day.

In a tough industry, they take pride in the exceptional work they have done. A glance across the Perth foreshore reveals that nearly every skyscraper was union-built—quality-built. The same can be said for the massive resource projects in the northwest and renewable projects in the southwest, as well as major infrastructure projects throughout WA.
Just about every major hospital, shopping centre, and sports stadium in WA has been constructed by CFMEU WA members. Along the way, they have created thousands of well-paid jobs and provided valuable apprenticeship and skills training opportunities, all of which have contributed significantly to the growth of the WA economy.
Equally important, the CFMEU WA has worked tirelessly to improve safety on sites in this extremely dangerous industry, ensuring that workers return home safe every day—a positive outcome for everyone. Whether it's championing safe working conditions, fighting for fair wages, or providing essential support and resources, the CFMEU WA stands by its members, now and always.
